What a fun week

I had an amazing array of clients over the past week.  I have numerous students take private photography lessons.   I really enjoying helping other photographers develop their photography skills.

An old friend from high school need senior portraits for her daughter.  We did a mix of location and studio shots.  It was fun to catch up while her daughter was changing outfits.

Also this week a shot a great deal time enjoying time as a pin-up photographer.   Pin-up is always a lot of fun for everyone involved.  Lots of laughing going on as we try to capture those flirty looks of classic pin-up.

I take the base photo from the shoot and convert it to an pin-up illustration using way too many steps in Photoshop.  I like the end result, so I will keep doing it.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.   I know I ate too much.

Sexy Boudoir Photography and Model Portfolios

So many fun shoots this week I thought I would share two of them.  The first was a photo shoot with model Oksana who need commercial photographs for her modeling agency.  We shot a wide variety of sets both in the studio and on location.   Here are a few of shots created for her modeling portfolio.

Another great shoot was a boudoir photography session in an amazing hotel.  The idea was to create sexy photographs that appeared as if the light was streaming in thru the window.  With a few photographic and lighting tricks, this image was created and she agreed to let it be shown in the blog.

It is going to get busy when the holidays arrive, so book early and save.

Model Musician

This past week I spent most of my time shooting 3 magazine spreads. Fabulous models in sexy lingerie in a boudoir photography style. I will be able to show the photos one it goes to press.

A model came in to add some shots to her modeling portfolio and we decided it might be fun to use the guitar she brought along to do a CD cover mock-up. I shot a wide variety of looks and this was one of her favorites.

When working with models on their portfolios, it is always fun to do some theme based shots like you might find in an editorial shoot.

Next week won’t be as hectic, but I know it will be fun.

Summer is here, keeping busy

Busy week this week. Had fun maternity photography session, some headshots and couple of amazing boudoir photography sessions.

One of my favorite shoots this week was one with a young model named Jillian. She wanted some photographs to start her portfolio. She was very interested in creating a fashion look. Working with young models is always fun as you never know how they will be in front of the camera.

Some are shy and others are just bouncing off the wall with energy. Either way, my job as a photographer is to bring their personality out in the photographs and also push them in new directions to create a diverse modeling portfolio.

We shot both in studio and on location. We had to get an early start as summer is here and we don’t want to be outside much. Jillian was a trooper and we got some great outdoor shots. We then moved to the cool studio for the remainder of her shoot. Music and AC make for a fun shoot.

Later this week I am doing a shoot for Flashes of Hope, a great organization. Check back as you will want to read about this shoot.

Irena – Pageant Winner

I had the chance to week to photograph a very fun young lady. We had a lot of fun creating different looks during her time in the studio. She is very interested in fashion, so we did some shots that you might find in a models portfolio.

As a photographer, I always love it when my clients aren’t afraid to be a bit silly as it often yields some amazing photography. Irena was one of the those girls who just had fun with it. Come back next week for some surprises.

A week of Variety

Variety is the spice of life so the say and it sure helps keep the creative eye working in photography. I love it when I have to change up my thinking from one shoot to the next. This week, this lucky photographer shot maternity, headshots, boudoir, pin-up, products and even automotive.

Frequently I will have clients come in and wish to combine to photographic needs. Often I will have a boudoir client who also needs to have a headshot done. Boudoir is often also combined with modeling.

By combining a clients needs in to a single photography session, I can give my clients some great value.

Of course one of my favorite parts of my job is when a photographer is needed to shoot an amazing car like this Ferrari Testarossa. This car was on-site for a fashion photography class that was being held at my studio and I took a few minutes to grab photographs of this beauty.

Next week is already jammed packed with a great variety. I can’t wait to see what else is on the horizon.

Kaidynce – Future Star

I found Kaidynce at a pageant a few weeks ago, and she was just full of personality. So I brought her into the studio to get some shots of her to see if it carried through on camera. As you can see from these few samples, it did.

Kaidynce was a real pleasure to work with. I asked her to show me some different expressions, are these are a few of what I got.

Fun Model Emma

Emma is new to modeling field and she wanted some photographs to start her new portfolio.  With all of my portfolio shoots I always work to create a variety of looks in the time we have together.  Emma was fun and full of energy.  These are a just few of my favorite shots from the shoot.

The Joy of Casting

What a very busy weekend.  Casting for several magazine spreads and a magazine cover is in progress.  As usual the models seemed to show up in random groups.   Busy for a while, then sit around and wait a bit.  The models that did show up were pretty good in general.   It is going to be tough for us to make the final selections.

There were a few standouts who will get the key features in the magazine, but some of the other shoots will depend on what the concept is for the current shooting issue.

And we are having one more casting to make sure we can fill in any gaps, or hopefully even find another standout or two.

Plans are to begin shooting the spreads in December and early January if possible.  We already have the next year’s concepts ready to go, so it just finding the right models and making the magic happen.

Fun with Photoshop

Falling Down

I shot the background shot from the Zeppelin and thought it would be fun to have someone falling out.   Maxym, a local model, was willing to give it a try.   I used the background image shadows as a reference for setting up my lights to create the proper shadows on my victim.

It took a while to get the fall look to work, as hair had to blow forward as she fell.    Maxym worked hard to get her arms and legs to look like she was flailing for her life.

In the end I am happy with the end result.  Pretty close to what I had in mind.   As with most photoshop projects, I am sure I will play with the more over time to refine the final result.
