Bringing a new baby into a family is always a special event. Remembering the pregnancy with the entire family is becoming a popular addition to maternity photo sessions. Sometimes its siblings, other times it is grandparents are brought into the shoot.
Typically the siblings arrive towards the end of the shoot after mom has gotten her solo photos taken. This allows mom to concentrate on creating great photos without having to worry about anything else.
There are as many options as there are families when it comes to creating the perfect maternity photo. We are always open to your ideas to help you make your photos a true reflection of you.
Shortly after maternity photography session a bundle of joy enters your world. And of course you will come back to get some great newborn photos. One of the fun things to do is to compare how tiny your newborn is as they grow so very fast.
Sometimes a photo shoot has a change in plans. As a photographer I need to be ready to adapt to whatever happens. From bad weather to equipment problems, there are always surprises.
This week on of the pleasant surprise is when Amber came into the studio to shoot. She was showing me her lingerie and said that the one outfit was very retro. My eye immediately saw pin-up for the outfit and asked her if she would like to do some classic pin-up with it.
Amber jumped at the chance. She hadn’t even considered doing any pin-up photography for her shoot before, but now she was excited by the idea.
She loved the final shot and everyone she showed it to told her it was one of their favorites.
The holidays were very busy and I finally have managed to get caught up and take some time to update my blog. I’ve gotten a lot of messages from client s telling me how much their loved ones all loved the photographs.
This week I did get a chance to create some boudoir photographs. I decided to end the shoot with some shoots using water. Water can help to create a very sexy look. As I think you will see in this sample from the shoot.
It is already time to start thinking about getting your Valentines Day boudoir images shot. So I will be getting busy again.
As I mentioned last week, this December has been packed with maternity photography clients. Each one has been so much fun to work with. The excitement of a new baby coming into a family is a wonderful thing to share.
Of course I always provide the standard pregnancy photos, but I love it when I can create a unique set of maternity images for a client that they couldn’t get anyplace else. One of my clients was really into this idea and got an amazing selection of images. This is one of my favorites.
A few lighting tricks to create this spotlight effect created this shadow. Amazing flexibility for someone who is 9 months pregnant. This is the kind of fun I love to have as a photographer.
In between these photo sessions I have been swamped with students taking private photography lessons. It seems a lot of people want to learn how to take better photos for the holidays and like the idea of a private class on how to use their camera. I enjoy teaching these budding photographers a few tricks of the trade to help them make their photos better.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.
So many fun shoots this week I thought I would share two of them. The first was a photo shoot with model Oksana who need commercial photographs for her modeling agency. We shot a wide variety of sets both in the studio and on location. Here are a few of shots created for her modeling portfolio.
Another great shoot was a boudoir photography session in an amazing hotel. The idea was to create sexy photographs that appeared as if the light was streaming in thru the window. With a few photographic and lighting tricks, this image was created and she agreed to let it be shown in the blog.
It is going to get busy when the holidays arrive, so book early and save.

This week my most interesting shoot was a glamour and boudoir shoot that the client wanted to shoot a portion of it underwater. Many photographers had told her they couldn’t do it. Since I do a lot of underwater photography when I travel, it was no problem to did out my gear for my camera and be her underwater photographer.
The water was very warm making the water feel great for both of us. Her hair floated around in the water creating beautiful glamour pictures that just would not be possible any other way. The patterns the sunlight made on her skin created some very interesting looks.
Underwater Boudoir and Glamour Photography in Phoenix
Being in the water created a very intimate feel to the photographs that was both sexy and playful. She was having a great time doing the poses we created, even risking losing her contacts by opening her eyes. The shoot was so much fun it ended up running a bit long, but the final result was worth the extra time it took.
This was the first request I have had for a boudoir photography session underwater, but after seeing the photographs I am sure that more clients in the Phoenix area will want to add this style to their shoots.
